A GENERAL DESCRIPTION, CHARACTERISTICS AND CHARACTER:

- A medium-sized and strong dog.
- An excellent dog for driving cattle, guard properties or for protection.
- Aggressive, but obeys the master.
- Highly intelligent and learns quickly.
- Bites low when driving cattle, so as not to hurt it.
Does not hurt the cattle even when having a style to bite higher.


GENERAL APPEARANCE

Head:
Strong, square. Wide black nose. Strong maxillae. A strong scissors bite.
A wide skull, with the occipital protuberance slightly apparent.
Expressive eyes of dark chestnut colour, medium-sized, horizontally positioned.
If the ears are not cropped, the dog bears them pendent, if they are cropped,
they are cut rounded. (In Finland the ears are not cropped.)

Legs:
Strong, muscular.

Body:
Strong, muscular.

Tail:
Set on high, thick. Docked at the 2nd or 3rd vertebrae.
(Docking is not done in Finland.)

Coat:
Short, dense, longer at the tail and the back.

Colours:
Fawn, grey or yellow, always brindled.
Colours are clear, with visible outlines of the stripes.
White markings on the chest and legs are permissible.

Size:
Males 50 - 60 cm, weight 25 - 35 kg.
Females 48 - 58 cm, weight 20 - 30 kg.
